Muscle spindle
Muscles contain a complicated structure called a "muscle spindle". This contains nerves that tell the brain what the muscle is doing. When a muscle has too much lactic acid, the messages to the brain become weak and then the brain doesn't tell the muscle to relax and you get muscle spasm.
In the words of Thomas Griner:
"during prolonged exertion, concentrated lactic acid collects in the muscle spindles and this begins to effect the feedback nerves. The messages grow weaker and weaker, and the cerebellum (brain) interprets this means the muscle is relaxing. So it commands the muscle to tighten up....thus begins a vicious cycle of self-sustaining spasm that intensifies and grows larger."
Griner's method of neuromuscular massage deals with this muscle spasm, and if the massage is done correctly the muscle will relax, the blood vessels will open, lactic acid will be carried away to the liver, and the muscle will return to a state of health.
The suboccipital muscles.
According Griner, spasm in the muscles under the head, where it joins the neck, cause all sorts of problems such as headaches. Also muscle spasm here irritates the nerves that control the sphenoid and frontal sinuses.
When this happens you get sinusitis, migraines, and over-production of
histamine. This effects the hypothalamus and pituitary glands causing
asthma, bronchitis, allergies, and autoimmune diseases.
A disturbance to the hypothalamus can cause symptoms of autism and
scizophrenia.
Griner claims to have produced dramatic changes to the behaviour of
autistic children by massaging the suboccipital muscles.

Vitamin B12 deficiency and you
Just been exploring vitamin B12 deficiency:
Since vitamin B12 plays a role in so many bodily functions, it’s no wonder B12 deficiency has been linked to a variety of serious health conditions. Studies have shown that over time, a B12 deficiency that is not corrected can lead to the following:
1)Heart disease
2)Certain types of cancer
3)Alzheimer’s
4)Fibromyalgia
5)Stroke
6)Chronic depression
7)tinnitus
8)erectile dysfunction
A vitamin B12 deficiency will cause high homocysteine levels in the bloodstream. High homocystein levels in the bloodstream can be toxic and lead to the development of serious diseases like cancer, heart disease, stroke and even Alzheimer’s disease. Conversely, getting enough B12 will help you avoid these diseases by naturally lowering your homocysteine levels.
The important role vitamin B12 plays in the brain means that a deficiency, especially when it is undetected for a long time, will disrupt brain function and lead to problems that are difficult to reverse. The brain and nervous system are impacted the most from a B12 deficiency. Even when the deficiency is corrected with better nutrition and supplements, impaired neural functioning may persist. It may be some time before chemicals in the brain are balanced and depression is alleviated, and the patient may have an elevated risk of developing Alzheimer’s in the future.
B12 deficiency can easily be responsible for many all-too-common illnesses such as fatigue, depression, memory loss, brain fog all the way on to dementia, Alzheimers, Autism, and many more. It can mimic the symptoms of MS and Parkinsons. These are illnesses that we will ALL come across at sometime in our lives, either affecting ourselves or someone dear to us. And age has nothing to do with it. B12 deficiency can affect everyone. And if our doctors look at B12 deficiency before they look at anything else, many of these illnesses can be treated simply, quickly and cheaply long before they become a threat, long before they destroy a life, long before they devastate families and ultimately affect probably millions of people
As a vegetarian (mostly) I suspect I may be short of this vitamin - I have been experiencing tired legs on even mild exertion and ear problems (tinnitus, etc) so went to a health food shop in Chorley and bought some vitamin B12. The sort suggested from my internet research is methylocobalmin 1000UG tablets taken sublingually - from Solgar. Since taking it every day for a few days I have felt more energy and my tinnitus has deminished.
will keep posted

mercury causes autism - new research
Blood Levels of Mercury Are Related to Diagnosis of Autism: A Reanalysis of an Important Data Set

The question of what is leading to the apparent increase in autism is of great importance. Like the link between aspirin and heart attack, even a small effect can have major health implications. If there is any link between autism and mercury, it is absolutely crucial that the first reports of the question are not falsely stating that no link occurs. We have reanalyzed the data set originally reported by Ip et al. in 2004 and have found that the original p value was in error and that a significant relation does exist between the blood levels of mercury and diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. Moreover, the hair sample analysis results offer some support for the idea that persons with autism may be less efficient and more variable at eliminating mercury from the blood.
Key Words: autism • mercury • environmental health • neuro-toxin • neurodevelopment •

Quintin (Quentin) Wilson - Top Gear celebrity advocates chiropractic
BBC’s ‘Top Gear’ celebrity has been a huge advocate of chiropractic since his son who was diagnosed as having autism made a ‘miraculous’ recovery after a visit to a Chiropractor.
In the Daily Telegraph Dated Thur 26 May 2005 Quentin said "I'm startled by the difference in Max(his son) before and after chiropractic. He has gone from being labelled autistic and needing a classroom assistant to becoming an active and feisty seven-year-old in mainstream education". They were at the point of putting Max on Ritalin, the drug that is used to treat children with ADHD when they had an "almost surreal" revelation. At a birthday party Max had "done his usual trick of sitting under the table for 2 hours". He met a mother who'd been observing Max and she thought he should go to see her chiropractor as she suspected an imbalance in his skeleton. Although very sceptical the Willson's took him for care and they remember the gentleness of the first adjustment as "it was just a flicking of the bones around the neck and shoulders," said Quentin, but that night, Max slept continuously until morning for the first time since his birth nearly 5 years previously! His speech eating and abilities quickly improved
"This is the unimpeachable testimonial of a man who did not believe in it. We have to raise awareness," said Quentin "because it worked so thoroughly for my son and changed his life and ours. If I can help just one child that's going through what we went through then that's my reward."
