moth!
The Moth
A man wandered into a doctor's consulting rooms and asked if could see the doctor. The receptionist was hesitant to let him in, especially as it was Christmas Eve and she was waiting to turn off the Christmas lights in the waiting room and go home; but he was very insistent. So the Doctor, having had completed all his consultations for the day and feeling in a 'good will to men' mood, agreed to see him.
The man entered in a rather aimless manner and after some hesitation flopped into a chair and looked nervously around the room.
"How can I help you?" said the doctor.
"Well, it's like this" said the man. "I keep thinking I'm a moth".
"A moth?"
"Yes" the man replied. "I'm convinced that I'm a moth".
"Well I'm very sorry, but you're in the wrong place. What you need is a psychiatrist".
"That's what I've been thinking" replied the man .
"Well, as it happens, I know just the man". said the doctor "I'll give him a call and see if he can fix an appointment for you after the holiday."
The man agreed and the doctor made the appointment.
"Tell me" said the doctor "It must have been very apparent from the sign outside that I'm a general practitioner. So if you already know you need to see a psychiatrist, why did you come in?"
"Well" the man said in a resigned voice "The door was open and the lights were on .....".

among youth 15-24 year olds (UNAIDS, Geneva)?
These shocking statistics prompted TeenAIDS-PeerCorp, an international non-profit,
to sponsor their first-ever "Webathon", which uses social media to educate teens
around the world about HIV/AIDS prevention.
Unlike traditional telethons and webathons that focus on raising funds, the sole
purpose of the TeenAIDS Webathon is to educate vulnerable youth, the majority of
whom are sexually active by age sixteen. Young people are being encouraged to
spread life-saving HIV prevention information by pledging to communicate with
friends and peers using the social media of their choice. They post or forward short
educational alerts and then report the total number of youth contacted to the
Webathon's website: www.teenaids.org. The goal is one million pledges by March 31,
2011.
Dr. Chittick, founder of TeenAids-PeerCorp, explained, "Social media has the ability
to connect an entire generation on issues of critical importance (such as protecting
friends from HIV/AIDS) before it is too late. This kind of grassroots outreach on a
global scale would have been impossible ten years ago. Now it is the model for all
future humanitarian campaigns involving youth, and it involves virtually no cost."
The Webathon is the main feature of TeenAIDS' fifth annual Global Webcast that will
be seen on World AIDS Day-Wednesday, December 1. The three-hour Webathon begins at
11 AM (EST / GMT-5). It will be repeated at 3 PM and archived on their

Currently no vaccine exists to prevent HIV infection and although some palliative
medicines are available to help those living with AIDS, a cure is still years away.

Ayurveda and Piles (Hemorrhoids)
Piles, also known as 'Arsha' in Ayurveda, is a painful health condition that causes formation of small blood vessels in the anal canal. The root causes of piles are constipation, obesity, stress, sitting too long, genetic factors or during pregnancy. Symptoms of piles mainly include bleeding, intense pain during stool passage, and itching in the rectal region
There are many healing options in Ayurveda for piles:
* Haritaki or terminalia chebula (one of the ingredients of 'Triphala') and jimikand or amorphophallus campanulatus are two most significant and natural herbs that are beneficial for treating piles.
* Cut down potato from your diet as eating potato will aggravate the condition.
* Avoid yellow variety of pumpkins.
* Eat more of fruits, vegetables and seeds such as Java Plum (Black berry) fruits, dry figs, Indian gooseberry ('amla' available in Maharishi Amrit Kalesh), papaya, radish, bitter gourd, turnip, onion, rice, wheat, mango seeds and sesame seeds.
* Ensure that your intestine is clean. Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins from the intestine.
* Avoid relaxing on stiff chairs and hard seats.
* Avoid horse riding.
* Physical activity is equally important in treating piles.
* You can also try yoga exercises. Cobra pose and bow pose are the best yoga poses for treating piles.

"Military occupation causes suicide terrorism!"
Robert Pape, a University of Chicago political science professor and
former Air Force lecturer, will present findings on Capitol Hill on Tuesday that
argue that the majority of suicide terrorism around the world since 1980 has had
a common cause: military occupation.
Pape and his team of researchers draw on data produced by a six-year study of
suicide terrorist attacks around the world that was partially funded by the
Defense Department's Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
They have compiled the terrorism statistics in a publicly available database
comprising some 10,000 records on some 2,200 suicide terrorism attacks, dating
back to the first suicide terrorism attack of modern times — the 1983 truck
bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, which killed 241 U.S.
Marines.
"We have lots of evidence now that when you put the foreign military presence
in, it triggers suicide terrorism campaigns, ... and that when the foreign
forces leave, it takes away almost 100 percent of the terrorist campaign," Pape
said in an interview last week on his findings.

Clash drummer now a chiropractor!
So, what do you do next after you've been in one of the most celebrated bands on the planet? Become a chiropractor, of course!
Terry Chimes, drummer with the Clash, played all of the biggest stadiums. He has had Bob Dylan, Jack Nicholson and Eddie Murphy coming backstage to pay him tribute. Rolling Stone magazine places his records in the top 10 of all time.
But now, Terry has become a chiropractor in Essex, England and his stage appearances are now limited to motivational seminars for doctors.
"I felt it was time to completely change - and over the time I'd been a musician, I'd already become a non-drinking, non-smoking, non-drug-taking vegetarian who does yoga."
And that's not mentioning the triathlons.
"People say how can you prefer treating patients to being on stage in front of 100,000 people? But if you can get someone healthy, there's a satisfaction in that which is much more profound."

Get enough of it, and you’ll actually reduce your risk for a wide range of cancers. What sunscreens are very good at is blocking UVA rays. Yet even that presents a problem, because your skin needs exposure to UVA rays to make vitamin D.
That’s a huge problem, because vitamin D is a vitally important nutrient that insures healthy function in just about every system in your body.
Vitamin D’s also the most potent cancer fighter in the world. A report came out of a Nebraska university showing that vitamin D has the potential to lower the risk of all cancers in women over 50 by 77 percent. 1 And in a study published in the journal Anticancer Research last October researchers found that sunlight – about 20 minutes a day for fair-skinned people, and two to four times that much for those with dark skin – can reduce the risk of death from 16 types of cancer, in both men and women. Sunscreens rob you of all these health benefits.

"She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be an Obama Democrat."
"I am,"replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."
"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"
"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. "The Office of Technology Assessment, a branch of the United States Congress, with the help of an advisory board of eminent university faculty, has published a report with the conclusion that, " only 10 to 20 percent of all procedures currently used in medical practice have been shown to be efficacious by controlled trial."
Therefore, 80% to 90% of medical procedures routinely performed are unproven.
That report further points out that the research which purports to prove effectiveness of the remaining 10% to 20% of medical procedures is largely flawed, and " . . many of the other procedures may not be efficacious."

dangers of high fructose corn syrup
High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is an inexpensive sugar that has essentially replaced cane sugar in almost all processed foods over the last 30 years. It’s no coincidence that diabetes and obesity have increased by over 150% during the same time period. It is my belief that the introduction of HFCS into the western diet has had a direct causative effect on the dramatic increased incidence of these two killers. Here is what Dr. Joseph Mercola has to say about HFCS:

For years, doctors have been handing out statin drugs to any
patient with high cholesterol. But they're the most dangerous drugs a doctor can prescribe. They've been linked to fatigue, heart problems,
and even death.

And if you take one for long enough, you're going to feel very tired
and very old.
Now the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is pushing this
poison to a new group.

high-risk children ages two and up. And statin therapy for kids as young as

Now, some are calling for even more aggressive screening measures

Consider this: Pediatrics published a new
study a couple weeks ago. Researchers screened all fifth graders in West
Virginia public schools, including 5,798 who wouldn't have met cholesterol
screening guidelines. They found 268 children with cholesterol high enough
to be treated with drugs.2
It frightens me to even think about the
implications
Entire generations getting hooked on drugs with dangerous side
effects. Ones that include:
Muscle pain
Liver damage
Nausea
Lowered mental performance
Chronic fatigue
Cardiomyopathy (deterioration of your heart's function)
Depletion of CoQ10 in the heart (which can cause congestive heart
failure)
Whats more, this could open up the floodgates for
pharmaceutical companies to promote their use in kids. Come to think of it,
thats already happening. I just read that Pfizer introduced a sweet
and tasty gummy-likeversion of Lipitor. I'm sure
it'll boost sales before their patent runs out next year.
The lesson here is, Just say NO to statins.
You cant trust them - or the folks telling you to take
them.
If a child came to my office with high cholesterol, I would tell
him to exercise in short bursts of high intensity for at least 12 minutes a
day, cut carbs, and eat foods that are rich in omega-3s, like salmon, flax
seeds, and walnuts.
For most children, this would solve the problem within six weeks.
Why? Because childrens bodies heal themselves quickly.
And yours will, too IF you treat it right.
Heres what I recommend for driving down LDLs:
Eat fish: They're loaded with omega-3s. And
theyre just as good at reducing the risk of heart-attack deaths as
statins. In fact for some, they can be even better. In a recent
study, omega-3s - not statins - cut hospitalizations and death
rates of heart patients.3,4
Wild-caught salmon is best. It doesn't have all the
pollutants found in farm-raised fish. Or you can supplement. I recommend
anywhere from 700 to 2,000 mg per day.
Take sustained release niacin (vitamin B3):
It&'s been found to increase HDL cholesterol by 20% to 35%.5 But don’t
exceed 500 mg a day.
PACE yourself: Quick, simple, high-intensity exercise
– like my 10- to 20-minute PACE workouts – is the most
effective way to increase your HDL levels.
Avoid grains and sugars: 99% of the time, this alone can

pressure) and poke it in gently until it stops going
in any more to where you put an ear plug for noise,
next to the ear canal and keep checking it to make
sure it stays in place and wear it there with nothing
in the other ear.
Best results would be obtained by wearing the cotton
24 hours a day even during sleep , checking it every
so often to see if it has slipped out some. Poke it
gently a couple of times again to make sure its in all
the way. Replace it as needed to keep it clean and
dry.
Our immune system I have found cant be stimulated
while exposed to most types of manmade radiation such
as cell phones (even when just being carried) or
within 2 or 3 feet of you) or when using a computer
and it would be better to take the cotton out at those
times. The same problem if you smoke (80 or 90% of the
effect is lost) and some amount will be lost by things
that suppress immunity such as steroids or sythetic
opiate pain killer.
The cotton ball has to be ORGANIC cotton, it must say
ORGANIC on the package because ordinary cotton balls

and neither will work, the body wont respond to them.

Scientists have now proven a link between Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and a lack of Vitamin D. People in Scotland are exposed to less sunshine, and it is the energy from the sun which triggers a chemical reaction in the body which leads to Vitamin D being produced. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is rare in countries close to the equator which have a high amount of sunshine and becomes more common at distant latitudes. For example, in the US rates are lowest in Florida and rise towards Canada. At a Multiple Sclerosis (MS) conference in November 2008 scientists told the Scottish Government of the link and now it needs to act on this evidence.
That is why Ryan has started the Shine on Scotland campaign, as he believes that the government providing Vitamin D to children and pregnant mums is our chance to stop future generations from suffering the way his Mum does everyday. He’s doing it for your children and your grandchildren. Will you join him in his fight?

Obesity biggest health problem
OBESITY has overtaken smoking as the biggest health issue facing Australian women, a landmark study has found. (note: Obesity in England has risen dramatically in the last ten years. In 1993 it was estimated that an average of 15% of men and women were classed as obese. Now 25% of the population fits the criteria)
The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health released yesterday found that being overweight or obese was more consistently associated with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and asthma than smoking or alcohol use.
"Ten years ago, smoking was the major health problem," said public health expert Julie Byles, of the University of Newcastle.
"That's been overtaken by obesity. That's probably the most startling thing out of all the findings."
Researchers – who have been surveying more than 30,000 Australian women across three generations since 1996 – have found fewer than one in 10 of the younger women ate the recommended five or more different vegetables a day and fewer than four in 10 ate two or more pieces of fresh fruit.
When the study began a decade ago, 20 per cent of those aged 18 to 23 were considered overweight or obese. That had rocketed to 32 per cent among the same group of women – an increase of more than 50 per cent – by 2003.
"It's scary," Professor Byles said.
"Young women are putting on weight at such a rate that they're going to overtake their mothers' generation. By the time they're the same age, they'll be a lot heavier."
Although the 180-page report found few differences in health across urban and remote areas, younger women living in small rural centres had a much higher prevalence of diabetes than other women of the same age.
Professor Byles said messages about healthy eating and exercise were not getting through as strongly as they needed to.
"But if you look at smoking and how long we've been putting out messages about quitting, it's sort of a drip, drip, drip effect," she said.
"If we keep putting out messages about maintaining a healthy weight, good nutrition and physical activity, eventually that will get through too."
The study, which will follow the women until 2016, is a collaboration between the University of Newcastle and the University of Queensland and is funded by the Federal Government.

Native American Sungazing Practices
Native American Sungazing Practices and fulfilment of desires
I have been advised by several reputable sources that some Native Americans, particularly priests, healers, seers and shamans, also practiced sungazing. My afore-mentioned friend Patrick was once approached by an elderly Native American medicine man who shared with him his own practice and stories of sungazing in his culture; the medicine man stated that he still sun-gazed to that day (this was apparently in the late 1980’s). He reported that his Native American tradition believed that if you look at the Sun and go to the heart and thank Sun for life and for everything, and then ask for something, your request will be fulfilled (kinda like instant manifesting, a la the New Agers!) V Pinto

One preliminary study on menopausal women, published in 2007, reported that 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed (taken twice each day) cut the women's hot flashes in half. And, the intensity of their hot flashes dropped by 57%. The women noticed a difference after talking the daily flaxseed for just one week, and achieved the maximum benefit within two weeks.

Chlorine is a toxic chemical that has been used to disinfect drinking water supplies for nearly 100 years. It is economical and kills many bacteria including those which cause typhoid, cholera, and dysentery.
Unfortunately, it is also a poison that has many adverse affects on the human body. Forty years ago the food industry decided to remove iodine from baked goods and replace the iodine with bromine. Iodine and bromine appear similar to the thyroid gland and bromine easily binds to the thyroid gland’s receptors for iodine. Bromine, however, is of no value to the thyroid gland unlike iodine and it inhibits the activity of iodine in the thyroid gland. Bromine also can cause impaired thinking and memory, drowsiness, dizziness and irritability. This substitution of bromine for iodine has resulted in nearly universal deficiency of iodine in the American populace. Iodine therapy helps the body eliminate fluoride, bromine, lead, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum and mercury. Could this substitution of bromine for iodine have been carried out to increase diseases and thus create more need for pharmaceutical drugs?

How Can Iodine Deficiency Be Detected?
An accurate test for diagnosing iodine deficiency exists. Dr. Jay Abrahams has developed a loading test to settle this issue. The patient takes 4 iodine tablets (12.5 mg each). If there is sufficient iodine in the individual the excess iodine is excreted in the urine in the next 24 hours. If iodine is lacking the body retains most of the iodine with little iodine appearing in the urine. Use of this test has shown that nearly every patient with any condition known to be associated with iodine deficiency tested positive for iodine lack. Therefore, it often is sensible to assume iodine lack and proceed to treat with iodine.
However, when a patient takes iodine for several months and has shown no improvement this test can be used to exclude a problem with absorption of iodine. Iodine lack is known to be a factor in the development of breast and prostate cancer. Sixty patients with a variety of cancers were studied. All sixty patients were found to have serious iodine deficiency.
To correct iodine deficiency by taking iodized salt is not feasible. You would need 20 teaspoons of iodized salt daily to get adequate quantities of iodine. Dr. Abrahams has developed an iodine preparation named Iodoral to treat iodine deficiency. This is composed of dried Lugol’s solution containing 12.5 mg of iodine per tablet. A person with adequate iodine stores who takes 4 of these tablets (50 mg.) will excrete 90 % of the iodine in their urine.
Dr. Abrahams thinks that the correct quantity of iodine needed to maintain sufficient amounts of iodine in the body is 13 mg. daily. This is 100 times more than the government recognized RDA for iodine. This quantity of daily iodine would be distributed as follows –six mg. to thyroid gland, five mg. for the breasts in females and two mg. for the remainder of the body. Males appear to usually, but not always, need slightly less than females.
Prominent thyroid researcher, Dr. Benjamin Eskin, has shown that the thyroid gland and skin prefer to concentrate the iodide form of iodine while the breasts concentrate iodine. His research suggested that the body needs both the iodide and iodine form of iodine. This is easy to accomplish with Lugol’s solution developed by French physician Dr. Jean Lugol in the 1820s. His solution mixed iodine (5 %) with potassium iodide (10 %) and 85 % water. Dr. Lugol’s solution killed germs and was used with success in treating infections and many other conditions. This solution in the recommended 2 drop dosage contains 5 mg. of iodine and 7.5 mg. of iodine which is exactly the quantity of iodine recommended for daily intake by Dr. Abraham. Lugol’s solution tastes metallic unless greatly diluted and stains clothing and skin.
A third solution that works well in correcting iodine deficiency is Triodide made by Scientific Botanicals of Seattle, Washington. This has the same dosage of iodine and iodide combined with a sea vegetable called bladderwrack. This can be obtained from natural food stores, Tahoma Clinic Dispensary and compounding pharmacies. This contains 12.5 mg of iodine in the same 2 drop dosage.
Dr. Abrahams recommends taking 50 mg of Iodoral (four 12.5 mg. tablets), Lugol’s solution (8 drops)or Triodide (8 drops) daily for 3 months as a loading dose. Then this dose should be gradually reduced to the 12.5 mg. maintenance dosage under the supervision of a knowledgeable health care professional. Dr.Abraham feels that 14 to 15 mg. of iodine/iodide daily is the upper maximum of safety. This is close to the recommended dose of 12.5 mg daily so caution is necessary in managing iodine repletion. Japanese researchers have discovered patients with hypothyroidism who were taking 20 mg. of iodine or more daily.

This does not have the correct ratio of iodine iodide recommended by Dr.Abrahams for correcting iodine deficiency but it does have a multitude of valuable healing properties. global warming not due to man-made CO2 emisions
Dr. Martin Hertzberg was a meteorologist for three years in the U.S. Navy, an occupation which gave him a lifelong mistrust of climate modeling. Trained in chemistry and physics, a combustion research scientist for most of his career, he's retired now in Copper Mountain, Colorado, still consulting from time to time.
He says, "water, in the form of oceans, clouds, snow, ice cover and vapor, is overwhelming in the radiative and energy balance between the earth and the sun.
Carbon dioxide and the greenhouse gases are, by comparison, the equivalent of a few farts in a hurricane." And water is exactly that component of the earth's heat balance that the global warming computer models fail to account for.
It's a notorious inconvenience for the Greenhousers that data also show carbon dioxide concentrations from the Eocene period, 20 million years before Henry Ford trundled his first model T out of the shop, 300-400 per cent higher than current concentrations. The Greenhousers deal with other difficulties like the medieval warming period's higher-than-today's temperatures by straightforward chicanery, misrepresenting tree-ring data (themselves an unreliable guide) and claiming the warming was a local, insignificant European affair.
We're warmer now, because today's world is in the thaw following the last Ice Age. Ice ages correlate with changes in the solar heat we receive, all due to predictable changes in the earth's elliptic orbit round the sun, and in the earth's tilt. As Hertzberg explains, the cyclical heat effect of all of these variables was worked out in great detail between 1915 and 1940 by the Serbian physicist, Milutin Milankovitch, one of the giants of 20th-century astrophysics. In past postglacial cycles, as now, the earth's orbit and tilt gives us more and longer summer days between the equinoxes.
