Bee Pollen - the complete protein source?

Getting lots of info on Bee Pollen - its looking good:

Bee pollen contains 35 percent protein, of which half is in the form of free amino acids - these are the Essential Nutritive Elements of Life (complete protein) which are assimilated immediately by the body."

Scientists compared the amino acids of bee pollen with those of animal origin and bee pollen was superior in every respect. Bee pollen contains 40 to 80 percent free glutamic acid - an amino acid, which is able to cross the protective blood barrier in the brain. This may be the reason why bee pollen has been used to successfully enhance mental abilities.

Amino Acids:

As a percentage of its dry weight, bee pollen contains:

Arginine 4.4 - 5.7%

Histadine 2.0 - 3.5%

Isoleucine 4.5 - 5.8%

Leucine 6.7 - 7.5%

Lycine 5.9 - 7.0%

Methionine 1.2 - 2.4%

Phenylalanine 3.7 - 4.4%

Threonine 2.3 - 4.0%

Tryptophan 1.2 - 1.6%

Valine 5.5 - 6.0%

The World’s Most Complete Food
Bee pollen is the world’s most complete food. It contains every basic vitamin, mineral, enzyme and hormone essential for general well-being and good health. In its fresh, natural form, it is completely absorbed by the body and is 100% digestible.

Professor Alain Callias, Ph.D. at the Academy of Agriculture, Paris, France, investigated whether referring to bee pollen as “nature’s perfect food” was accurate, and if humans could survive on bee pollen alone for an extended period of time.

During the course of his studies, he found that 36 grams of bee pollen a day would supply the average man with every necessary nutrient!

The complete spectrum of amino acids present in bee pollen are:

* Cysteine - 3.4 mg per gram - deactivate free radicals and neutralize toxins
* Alanine - 12.3 mg per gram - strengthens the immune system by producing antibodies
* Valine - 12.1 mg per gram - essential amino acid that helps calm emotions
* Leucine - 16.1 mg per gram - essential amino acid that increases alertness
* Iso Leucine - 10.5 mg per gram - essential amino acid
* Histidine - 5 mg per gram - essential for tissue growth and repair
* Phenylalanine - 10 mg per gram - antidepressant, improves memory and reduces hunger
* Serine - 12.4 mg per gram - strengthen the immune system by providing antibodies
* Threonine - 10.1 mg per gram - assists metabolism and assimilation
* Lysine - 10.7 mg per gram - enhances absorption of calcium
* Methionine - 5.7 mg per gram - reduces withdrawal symptoms and depression
* Arginine - 8 mg per gram - promotes regeneration of the liver
* Aspartic acid - 22.8 mg per gram - aids in the expulsion of harmful ammonia from the body
* Tyrosine - 7.6 mg per gram - helps with depression and fatigue
* Glutamic acid 23.7 mg per gram - helps to decrease the craving for alcohol
* Proline - 21.8 mg per gram - helps maintain and strengthen heart muscles
* Glycine - 10.3 mg per gram - helps make hormones responsible for a strong immune system
* Tryptophan - 2 mg per gram - anti-anxiety and anti-depressant

Pollen is the male seed of flowers. It is required for the fertilization of the plant. The tiny particles consist of 50/1,000-millimeter corpuscles, formed at the free end of the stamen in the heart of the blossom. Every variety of flower puts forth a dusting of pollen. Many orchard fruits and agricultural food crops do, too.

Bee pollen is the food of the young bee and it is approximately 40% protein. It is considered one of nature’s most completely nourishing foods. It contains nearly all nutrients required by humans. About half of its protein is in the form of free amino acids that are ready to be used directly by the body.

Bee pollen is an alkaline food considered by nutritionists to be the most complete food found in nature.
Some of the minerals included in bee pollen include: barium, boron, calcium, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, sodium, and zinc. Bee pollen contains vitamins A, B, C, and E. It is extraordinarily rich in most of the B vitamins, including folic acid (folate).

Bee pollen contains over 5,000 enzymes. The phytonutrients (such as co-enzymes, bioflavonoids, phytosterols, and carotenoids) found in bee pollen also number in the thousands. Bee pollen is 15% natural lecithin.

Some of the Benefits of Bee Pollen Consumption Include:

- Increases energy and stamina.
- Increase muscle growth and definition.
- Builds immune system.
- Has antioxidant activity.
- Enhances sexuality.
- Smoothes wrinkles.

It has long been prescribed by traditional health practitioners - including the fathers of Western medicine Hippocrates, Pliny the Elder, and Pythagoras - for its healing properties.
